Originally a Slovenian ski manufacturer Elan wanted in on the international skateboarding craze in the late 70s. The boards were manufactured by Sirius Scandinavia in Boden. Whether or not Elan's biggest star alpine ski legend Ingemar Stenmark ever did any actual skateboarding is beyond me. Elan slalom setup late 70s.

Again everyone wanted in on the international skateboarding craze in the late 70s. Calypso slalom deck made by SKF (Svenska Kullagerfabriken) late 70s. To the best of my knowledge, although SKF is one of the largest and proudest swedish brands, Calypso production was based in their Schweinfurt Germany factory where they also had a pro team. From when skateboards looked different. A few samples of Calypso boards by SKF late 70s. Made of aluminium, plywood, solid wood or wood and fibre glass. Unlike many other manufacturers Calypso/SKF would not rely on anythin OEM and even developed their own trucks, a few samples of which can be seen on these boards.

Apart from swedish stuff I have a thing for unused boards from the 1950s and 60s.

Skee-Skate by Tresco from the late 1950s-early 60s was one of the first production skateboards ever made. Steel wheels. Found unused in original box. Makaha Phil Edwards from the early 60s. The first ever pro model skateboard. Hot brander in the factory applying the top logos was Skip Engblom at his first job, years later known as the owner of Zephyr Skateshop, home of the Z-Boys and Santa Monica Airlines and portrayed by the late Heath Ledger in the 2005 movie Lords of Dogtown by Stacy Peralta. Hobie Super Surfer, the Rolls-Royce of skateboards, made of mahogany, oak and ash laminate, with original white composition clay wheels and loose ball bearings. This one was made before Vita-Pakt cirka 1962-63.

The Pro-Surfer by N.J. Aluminium Co Inc in North Brunswick, NJ tried marketing this aluminium deck with a lip to prevent bending and steel wheels. Roller Derby started out making roller skates but tried their luck also in skateboarding from the early 60s and onwards. Skee-Skate by Tresco from the late 1950s-early 60s was one of the first production skateboards ever made. Steel wheels. Found unused in original box.

Early composition clay wheels wore out alot faster than modern urethane and thus replacement sets like these Makaha's from R. L. Stevenson Company. Hobie team rider Patti McGee on the cover of Life Magazine May 14th 1965 (c) Bill Eppridge, being Woman's first National Skateboard Champion and the first female professional skateboarder. In 2010 she was the first female to ever be inducted into (the international) Skateboarding Hall of Fame. Popular early skateboards were often made from a piece of wood with trucks and wheels taken from old roller skates. Next step up would be sets like this made specifically for home made skateboards. By Roller Derby cirka early 1960s.
